Iowa Chiropractic Society Help Reverse Boy Scouts Policy That Discriminates Against Chiropractic
reprinted from ACA
This past summer the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) implemented a policy change affecting the types of providers allowed to perform annual medical examinations for its youth and adult members. As of Jan. 1, 2010, BSA will no longer allow doctors of chiropractic to perform these annual evaluations, and some chapters have already implemented this policy. Only medical doctors, doctors of osteopathic medicine, nurse practitioners or physicians' assistants will be eligible to perform these exams. While ACA is doing its part to rescind this unfair policy, your support is crucial. ACA has developed an easy way for you to get involved. Go to www.acatoday.org/letters/bsa.cfm , where you will find a template letter for BSA. Simply key in your name and address and click on "Send Letter." Your message will be sent directly to BSA.
