About the Emerging Leaders Program

The Iowa Chiropractic Society (ICS) and the Iowa Chiropractic Education and Research Foundation (ICERF) are pleased to announce the Emerging Leadership Program. The program is an educational curriculum designed to develop leaders for the chiropractic profession and their communities. Emerging Leaders demonstrate effective leadership qualities for the purpose of improving overall health through chiropractic. The conference is held every year and up to 10 participants are selected. The program is offered every even year and was last held in 2018.

The program is fully funded by the Iowa Chiropractic Research and Education Foundation (ICERF) through donations from generous contributors and sponsorship's from several districts of the Iowa Chiropractic Society (ICS).

Program Goals

From the applications submitted, 10 chiropractic physicians will be selected to participate in the program. Selected candidates will be notified in April 2016 after ICS Annual Convention in order to provide time for personal scheduling arrangements. All expenses with the exception of transportation to and from the conference are covered. Participants receive detailed information including agenda prior to the conference. CEU’s will be included in this weekend with amount not determined at this time.

Applicants will obtain:

  1. Leadership skills.
  2. Develop strengths needed for successful leadership within your community on behalf of your profession.
  3. Develop goals for practice and professional success.
  4. Become a leader and relied upon to be an effective advocate for chiropractic in Iowa.

Using the skills learned at the conference, each participant will pick a leadership project within their community to complete (additional details regarding the projects will be provided at the conference - example projects would include planning a fundraiser for a local charity or joining a board of a non-profit). The participants will report back on their progress, and ICS will publish results on the Web site and use these ‘stories’ to demonstrate the impact of the Emerging Leaders Program.

Chiropractors who want to better develop their leadership potential and who desire to make a difference in their profession and communities are encouraged to apply.
